VCAT

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is an independent tribunal which hears and decides Applications for Review (appeals) lodged by permit applicants, objectors and others in an informal and expeditious manner and upon their merits.

VCAT can enter Application for Review information to all planning and subdivision applications in SPEAR as required.

Currently, VCAT can perform the following actions in SPEAR:

  • add a VCAT reference number
  • maintain 'Application for Review' details
  • add correspondence or other documents into SPEAR (for viewing by other parties)
  • add one or multiple VCAT orders to each Application for Review
  • set and clear the VCAT Flag in SPEAR
  • process multiple Applications for Review to the one permit application (either simultaneously or separately)

In addition, a Responsible Authority can send correspondence to VCAT in SPEAR, including a Decision to Grant Enquiry Form, Practice Note 2 and draft conditions.
